Private Investigations In Florida - The CC Intern PI
There is no place like Florida for Private Investigations. Public records are a few clicks away, the PI licensure is relatively easy to obtain, and the weather is beautiful. People from any job background can find a new career in Private Investigations. You do not need to be a retired police officer to do well in this field.
However, the field of Private Investigations is not just for retired detectives. The industry has so many specialties; Forensic Accounting, Forensic Photography/Videography, Surveillance, Counter Surveillance, Executive Protection, Skip Tracing, and Pre-employment Investigations.
The process to becoming an Intern PI in Florida is as follows:
Take the required 40 hours of training and find a sponsor (an employer) to begin the two-year CC Internship (a C license is a full Private Investigator license). If you currently live outside of Florida, you may want to take an on-line course. Check with the Florida Department of Agriculture to see if the two years as a CC Intern can be shortened based on your previous work experience or educational background.
Obtain an Intern Private Investigator State application from a Florida regional office or have one sent to you from the Florida Department of Agriculture. You will need to: o fill out the application booklet, o pull out the sponsorship page from the application and have your sponsor (PI agency) fill it out, o have an authorized facility (e.g. any police department) workup your fingerprint card (included in the application), o provide a passport-style photo, o send the original copy of the Certificate of Completion from the 40 hour CC Intern Investigator course to the Florida Department of Agriculture and o submit the State fees.
Send the package to the Florida Department of Agriculture with 'Return Receipt Mail' after you make a copy of everything for your records.
After submitting the application to the State, you can begin your internship. The Florida Department of Agriculture will issue a letter of receipt which is to be kept on your person at all times while working. It takes about three to four months for the State to send you the official 'CC' Intern PI card. Keep it in your wallet as well.
You will enjoy this independent career and accumulate many stories for your friends and grandkids.
