What To Buy For The Happy Couple On Their Big Day

By Oliver Jackson Carter

The reason that couples invite guests to their wedding ceremony is, obviously, that they want them to witness their loving bond and share their happiness and joy. Gifts are optional but most people will usually bring at least a small token of a gift to a wedding.

Some believe that given the amount of money spent by the couple on providing food and entertainment for their guests, that the guests should repay them with gifts of great expense or even cash, although traditionalists would beg to differ.

Quite a common way of organising the gift giving at a wedding is for the couple to register for gifts from a particular shop or chain of shops. When the bride and groom register for gifts they will usually make up a list of gift ideas that they would like to receive from the guests and the list will usually be comprised of general household necessities such as china and silverware.

This method is often preferred by wedding guests because it allows them to be comfortable in the knowledge that the couple defiantly want what they've bought them and it will be valuable in their life together.

However, couples registering for gifts will not solve all gift-buying problems. It can sometimes end up as a competition between guests as to who buys the most expensive item on the list. And there are people who don't believe that the registry approach is in fitting with the traditional morals a wedding in that if someone doesn't know the couple well enough to buy them a suitable wedding present then they shouldn't be at the wedding.

A personalised gift of some description is ideal for weddings as if they are in the right taste, then they can set off all the emotions that a wedding wouldn't feel right without. A good example of a personalised wedding gift would be to get them a personalised wedding gift box for them to store all of the memorable items from the day of the wedding. It could have a picture of the couple infused on the top of the box and/or a personal message engraved inside and it could be a nice way for them to keep all of their memorable wedding items safe and is also sure to spark some emotion when the couple look at it for years to come.

So to really hit home with the perfect wedding present for your friends or relatives, my advice would be to go with something personal that has been specifically tailored to the bride and groom.
