A Gold Party is Fun for You and Your Friends
If you work in an office, chances are that you have company parties or fund raisers every so often. Maybe there's a bake sale or a raffle. Or, how about those hundred pound a plate affairs that you feel pressured to attend? What if there was a better way to bring together your office and support a cause and what if it cost you absolutely nothing.
The 1950's housewife would invite her friends over and entertain them while they used their newly developed disposable income to shop. Today, home parties are still extremely popular. However, companies now offer things like the gold party, which give the concept a bit of twist.
The concept surrounding this fund raising idea is quite easy. As office mates, everyone will bring their old, unused or unwanted gold, silver or platinum. This can be jewelry, coins, watches, etc. The chances are that most of you have something lying around that will qualify. Now, don't be fooled. You aren't donating these items to the cause at all.
They will arrive at your party a half hour before the scheduled time and set up a small corner where they will have equipment to weigh and appraise each piece that you and your guests bring. There is absolutely no pressure for anyone to sell. If any of your guests arrive and decide at the last minute that their piece has too much sentimental value, that's great. In fact, your appraiser will expect that to happen every now and again. However, for those that do wish to accept the offer, it will likely be significantly higher than a pawn shop price.
Here's where the fundraiser part comes in. For each piece that you or your coworkers sell at the gold party, the cause that your office is supporting will receive 10% of the proceeds. Pretty good deal, wouldn't you say? In addition, if any of the participants want to take the concept into their own home and have another get together, an additional 5% will be given to the charity.
It's that simple. As the host, you will earn a certain percentage of each sale made and will also earn a cash amount for each guest who books their own gold party. The process is fun, easy and mutually beneficial to all.
So, like the traditional home party, the gold party will have food, friends and a whole lot of fun. However, your guests will not be spending any money at all. Rather, they will have the opportunity to sell their unused and unwanted gold for a great price.
With the gold party, your guests will go away with cash in their pockets for something they had just sitting around. How's that for a night out?
